The team being Public Spaces Technologies is on a mission to develop, launch, and power a new social web that accurately reflects the everyday kindness and civility that we experience in the real world, designed around the inherent value of every human being.
By serving real-world communities first we are creating safe and open public spaces online.
The core of our platform is an alternative paradigm to social media based upon shared interests and values-based networks of trust. This will serve as a foundational layer to power a suite of federated social apps.
This offers us – all of us – the opportunity to reinvent the social network as a shared public resource, freeing communities held hostage by the network defenses of what we call ‘the behavioral paradigm’.
Plug.events
Our first product is called Plug.events, a website to help event-based communities to coordinate online, away from the noise of social media.
This way event based communities don’t need to use legacy social media, or at least the members of those communities who choose not to will be able to stay connected through easy access to reliable information about events and gatherings. The website and underlying platform currently supports a small number of niche communities, but is open to everyone and we will continue to expand and actively curate events on behalf of all types of communities. The design of Plug.events shifts the power from media giants and corporate advertisers back to the communities that generate all of the real value they capture.
